The book The Metamorphosis 2.0: Cactus Vasilich (2026) by Boris Bakhmetyev is a collection of ironic, phantasmagoric stories about an unusual character named Cactus Vasilich. The protagonist continues to run a certain office, while the spirit of a comatose employee, Evgeny Vasilyevich (who looks like the missing for unknown reasons top boss), still dwells within him. The plot revolves around paradoxical, grotesque situations: Cactus Vasilich expands his sphere of influence now he is involved not only in the internal affairs of the office, but also in international matters; he secretly oversees the delivery sector in Moscow; he ponders the transit of power within the office and a possible move to the position of Chairman of the Cactus Greenhouse at the Apothecary Garden.
